  • Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What To Eat? Aussie review
A lot of gamers may or may not find themselves endowed with the mastery of the culinary arts, and for those who don't, Cooking Guide: Can't decide what to eat? is a masterpiece in almost every manner. From the simplest dishes like Macaroni Cheese to complex international cuisine, Cooking Guide is one game, if you want to call it that, that gamers cannot do without. Of course, it's not for everyone, but it's still pretty damn amazing how much quality content has been packed into this little DS game card. More inside

  • Elebits to recharge
Konami's succesful 2006 title, Elebits (known as Eledee's in other regions), is set to get a sequel exclusively for the Nintendo DS. Elebits: The Adventures of Kai & Zero looks to be an adventure game, stepping away from it's puzzle orientated cousin on the Nintendo Wii. The game is alledged to have fetch and collect mechanics, and requires the protagonist to find Omega Elebits in order to earn abilities and progress through the game.

  • Cooking Guide: Can’t Decide What To Eat? - review
A portion of a Symbiote Studios review… I recommend cooking guide only to those who don’t fear the casual style of game. If you hate that and cooking then you probably made up your mind on this game before you clicked the link. Know only that this is definitely the best of the touch generation available [...]
  • Nintendo not letting success go to their head
“We recognize we’re in a special place and we don’t make any assumptions about how long it will last. As long as we continue to put out games that appeal to a wide range of consumers, we’ll be in a good place.” - Denise Kaigler, NoA vice president of Marketing & Corporate Affairs This is [...]
  • Final Fantasy Tactics A2 - impressions
Square-Enix fans have a lot of titles to get them excited, and FFTA2 was one of them. I say ‘was’ because the title is now available in North America, and has been in Japan for quite some time. Final Fantasy Tactics was quite a big title back in the day, and I feel [...]

I am not sure if many people read the main page anymore in fact I might be writing this post for the satisfaction of myself and Karl. Hi Karl!

This is just an update to let you know know what I am up to in case you missed me(Karl) haha

I will be leaving New Zealand in about 5 weeks or so. This will make it harder for me to follow New Zealand Nintendo news. I have taken the steps of setting up the gonintendo and vooks feeds. These are both excellent sources for news they will in no way impact normal nzninty stuff. In fact you might find yourself coming here more often.

I have written a handover document for one of our forum regulars who will be taking over the running of competitions.

I am going to take writing in general a lot more seriously. To this end I have registered a domain name ratherlargeadventure.com you are advised to read what promises to be a trepidly tantalizing transformation.

Nintendo Helps Old People!
Written by DaFlash

This is a real heart warming article about Wii and helping elderly quality of life in rest homes.

 Article is here

Its largely positive and actually has some qualitative information on a one month trial.

Resident Cynthia Hawkins, who is battling cancer, admitted the technology was usually associated with the young. Her four grandsons, who themselves owned Wii consoles, had shown her their skills, not realising that she, too, had perfected some games.

"It's a good, fun way to be in touch with the outside world. You can't go ten-pin bowling but you can do it in here," she said.

"I'm in an awful lot of pain most of the time but this helps take your mind off it."

According to physiotherapist Jill Miller, playing Wii also helped residents maintain their quality of life by exercising, building strength and balance, and interacting with others. The biggest improvement was in Parkinson's disease sufferer Len Williams who was able to control his random body movements by concentrating on a game of virtual tennis.

Monthly analysis of residents' falls showed a reduction for those who incorporated gaming with the home's exercise programme, she said.

And its in New Zealand! Fancy that :-)
